HC has started recruiting for the post of Counsellor in Crisis and Referral Centre for the Ottawa location. Persons who reside in Canada, Canadian citizens and permanent citizens who reside abroad can apply for it. The salary ranges from $ 71,599 to $ 77,368. Prefernece will be given to veterans who have years of expertise.

Health Canada Counsellor Jobs Details:

1. You will have to answer several phone calls, chats and identify the nature of incoming calls and texts.
2. You need to provide an immediate support to the clients psychologically.
3. You will have to assess the needs of clients and conduct an assessment for risks for referral to mental health professonals.
4. You will have to provide information and advice on various programs to assist the client so that they can make a decision.
5. You need to provide effective case management.

Educational requirement:

You should have a Master’s degree in social work, counselling, psychology or sociology.

Experience required:

1. You should have an exprtince of client case management.
2. You should have psycho-social assessment, vounselling and crisis intervention.
3. You should have experience in building and maintaining effective working relationship with various clients, mental health and other professional counsellors.
4. You should be adept in telephone and chat counselling for effective service.
5. You should have hands-on-experience for working within an employee assistant program model.

Skills required:

1. Ability to handle stress under odd working situations.
2. Sound communication skills.
3. Ability to work independently and in team.
4. Manage critical incident stress management.
5. String empathy and listening skills.
6. Attention to details.
7. Analytical thinking
8. Ability to decide swiftly.

Language requirements:

This job requires language proficiency and some assessments like Bilingual Imperative CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC and BBB/BBB.

Operational requirements:

You should have reliability status security clearance to get this job.
