Emergency Communications Coordinators report to 911 Assistant Chiefs and lead tactical execution of 911 Operations services and 911 center supervision, including during large-scale, emergent incidents. Staffing levels for frontline services will be maintained by you and your team. You will communicate from operations to Emergency Management and 911 management, working with important partners, contractual services, and several levels of government to improve 911. Primary duties:
- Supervise a 911 Operations team on a day-to-day basis, including managing staffing levels and supervisory jobs like payroll that are linked to staffing.
- Manage the flow of information, how partners are notified, and how events are prepared for.
- Provide operational management of events that are changing, including emergency communications with partner agencies, coordination of resources, reprioritization of available resources, application of business continuity strategies, and spreading information through multiple communication channels.
- Make sure that processes are compliant to make sure that requirements and practices are met to keep up the service level standards that Calgary 911 customers expect.
- Handle the team’s human resource tasks, such as mentoring, coaching, training, job development, and managing performance.
