There are various duties associated with the job profile. To name a few:

  1. You need to do case management of files.
  2. You will be ensuring security of the detention facility.
  3. You will be caring and controlling the detainee population.
  4. You will be diffusing situations through various techniques.
  5. You will be taking decisions related to detention or releases.
  6. You will be conducting risk assessments and recommending detention placement.
  7. Moreover, your work will involve responding to various queries as well as complaints from detained clients.
  8. You will be reviewing the internal detention procedures.
  9. You will not only assist with oversight but also liaise with stakeholders and contractors.

Educational qualification:

The minimum required qualification is secondary school diploma or you should have a satisfactory score in the Public Service Commission test.

Moreover, you need to have Graduation with a degree from a post secondary institution with specialization in either social work, mental health, psycho education, etc.

Experience required:

You should possess a decent experience in either working in border services, security, policing, military, in enforcing immigration and refugee protection act or working with ethnocultural communities. In fact, you should have experience of working with people having mental health issues, behavior, etc.

Operational needs:

You need to carry and use a cell phone or any mobile communication device and should be ready for call back.

Employment conditions:

  1. You should have a valid Canadian driving license.
  2. You should have a secret security clearance.
  3. You should have a valid first aid certificate from a qualified provider.
  4. You need to wear and maintain a uniform.
  5. You should be willing to work on a 24/7 basis.
  6. You should operate a government vehicle.
  7. You need to get a transport security clearance.
